The Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority has approved Mehiläinen’s acquisition of Mediverkko

On 5 January 2015, the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (FCCA) approved a corporate transaction based on which Mehiläinen Oy will acquire a controlling interest in Mediverkko Yhtymä Oy. Both of the companies provide health care and social services.

The analysis by the FCCA views the deal as presenting no obstacle to effective competition. The intervention threshold based on the Competition Act was not exceeded, since there is a sufficient number of alternative actors on the market to the concentration being created through the corporate acquisition.

FCCA’s decision includes the business secrets of the parties involved. The decision can only be published after these secrets have been erased, which will take approximately two weeks.
