Activities under the EU Cooperation Regulation
The new EU Consumer Protection Cooperation Regulation (2017/2394) (the CPC Regulation) will be in force from 17 January 2020. As a result, new means of cooperation have been introduced to improve consumer protection. The updated regulation enables broader and enhanced cooperation between national authorities in different Member States to jointly address cross-border breaches of EU consumer rules. The aim is to improve consumer confidence and the conditions of competition for legitimate businesses.
The Consumer Ombudsman's broad jurisdiction encompasses the supervision of most of the acts listed in the Cooperation Regulation.
