Tip of the week: If you are unable to pay a bill by the due date, immediately contact the creditor


If you cannot pay your bill or manage a loan repayment by the due date, immediately contact the creditor to negotiate over a new payment schedule.

The total amount of a bill the payment of which is due and which has not been paid grows constantly because the debtor must compensate any reasonable and necessary costs that the creditor has incurred during the course of debt collection.

Sometimes only few unpaid bills is needed can make money matters difficult to cope with. In these cases, advice can be obtained from external experts. Finland’s municipal councils employ financial and debt advisors, who can be contacted free of charge.
