The FCA has decided to commence further proceedings in an acquisition case whereby Lännen Tehtaat plc acquired the majority of the Avena Corporation from the Finnish state. The companies operate on partially overlapping markets; both conduct business e.g. in the manufacture of animal feed.
It will be examined at Stage II whether the acquisition will a result in a creation or strengthening of a dominant position which significantly impedes competition in the Finnish markets. During Stage II, the FCA may accept the acquisition as such; impose conditions upon its implementation or to propose to the Market Court that it be banned. Further proceedings shall last a maximum of three months.
