On 1 August 2011, the FCA approved an acquisition whereby the Flybe Group Plc and Finnair Oyj form a joint venture in which they acquire from Finncomm Oy the entire stock capital of Finnish Commuter Airlines Oy (FCA). Flybe will own 60 per cent and Finnair 40 per cent of the joint venture, and they will exercise joint control therein.
The FCA investigated the competition impacts of the acquisition in the domestic passenger air routes in particular. The FCA found that as a result of the acquisition a dominant position shall not arise or be strengthened which would significantly impede competition in the said markets.
The decision by the FCA may only be published after the business secrets have been eliminated.
