The Supreme Administrative Court rejected the last appeals concerning compensation claims relating to the liquidation of Air Finland on 3 February 2015. Compensation payments can therefore now begin. The payment schedule will be decided in the next few days and published as soon as possible.
The Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (formerly the Finnish Consumer Agency) processed approximately 3,000 claims relating to the liquidation of Air Finland in the autumn of 2012 and issued compensation awards on the basis of the claims towards the end of 2012. Some Air Finland customers were dissatisfied with the decisions and filed appeals with administrative courts. Some of the rulings given by administrative courts in the summer of 2014 were appealed to the Supreme Administrative Court.
Compensation payments to consumers could not be started until all the decisions had become final and all associated appeals processed. The Supreme Administrative Court rejected the last appeals on 3 February 2015, so compensation payments can now begin. The percentage of compensation to be awarded is the same as in the original decision, i.e. approximately 69.5%.
The FCCA will forward a list of payees to the guarantor, who will make the compensation payments as soon as possible. More information about the payment schedule will be published in the next few days.
