FCCA approves acquisition of Visma by HgCapital

On 19 October 2016, the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (FCCA) approved a business transaction, based on which HgCapital acquired the Business Process Outsourcing business of Visma.

The Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority has concluded that the acquisition will not significantly impede effective competition on the Finnish market, or have a material negative impact on competition.

HgCapital is a private equity investment company which, through its subsidiaries, manages invested assets and provides advisory and other services. Five of the companies owned by HgCapital operate in the IT sector, but these companies have no operations in Finland.

With operations in Finland, Visma makes businesses more efficient, through offerings of software, outsourcing services, commerce solutions, retail IT-solutions, and IT-related project and consulting services. The acquisition covered Visma’s Business Process Outsourcing operations, which include outsourced accounting, payroll and HR services for companies.

The FCCA’s decision covers the business secrets of the parties involved. The decision can only be published after confidential information has been removed, which will take approximately two weeks.
